Hair trends will certainly come and go, but low maintenance styles will last forever. Enter: face framing highlights, or the money piece hair trend. The trend was kick-started by Beyoncé last summer with a caramel-hued highlight on her front hairline.

So what exactly is a ‘Money Piece’?

A face-framing highlight around the front hairline made via the balayage technique which is usually paired with warm browns or a deep, natural black underlayer. It’s an easy way to add some flair to any look, no matter the hair length or face shape.

This technique lifts your complexion, makes your colour pop and will grow out very softly with low maintenance.

And while it is a highlighting method, It doesn’t have to be blonde! Typically, it should be two to three shades lighter than the rest of your mane to create just the right amount of contrast and lightness.
