I Tried a Satin Pillowcase For a Month — Here’s What Happened

Published on

When many of us think about beauty essentials, the last thing we’d ever think about is our bedding. But the secret to younger looking skin and healthier hair just might depend on where you lay your head at night.

I was browsing on a certain app called TikTok the other day and was turned on to the idea of using satin products for the overall health of skin and hair. For some reason, this really intrigued me. So, I decided to purchase a Kitsch Satin Pillowcase to see what all the hype was about.

I got a single pillowcase for about $19 from beautybay.com. Although it comes in many different patterns, but I decided to go for the classic ivory pillowcase. I slept on the pillowcase for a month — and here’s my honest review.

Kitsch Satin Pillowcase Review

The fabric of the pillowcase is sooo soft and buttery smooth that I had the urge to rub my face all over it, so that definitely tells you something about the quality. It is pretty luxurious with just the right amount of sheen, and launders beautifully with minimal (if any) wrinkling.

My skin looked healthier

Sadly, 100% cotton pillowcases are moisture-sucking and cause a lot of friction, whereas satin has very low absorbency, and therefore it helped to preserve the moisture balance in my hair and skin. It also didn’t absorb any applied night creams.

During my month of using Kitsch satin pillowcase, I definitely felt like my wrinkles were less visible and my skin felt healthier and hydrated

My hair felt smoother & silkier

When you sleep with your hair on the cotton pillowcase, it’s all too easy for your hair to get tangled, but not with the kitsch pillowcase. It helped keep tangles and split ends at bay, and by the end of the month, it completely eliminated the frizziness. Better hair while I slept? Yes, please.

Overall, I noticed a marked difference in how soft and hydrated my hair felt. I seriously could not stop touching my hair. It almost looked like I blow dried it, or at least ran a straightener through it. It’s kind of unreal! The satin pillowcase rumors are true; it’s not just a marketing ploy.

Should you get one?

Think of satin pillowcases as beauty supplements—not the ultimate solution but able to provide lot of benefits. Satin pillowcases can be more easier on the hair (waking up tangle-free is kind of amazing!). When it comes to your skin, satin could definitely help with hydration and fine lines.

Who knew that by simply sleeping on satin pillowcases you could turn your nightly slumber into a crucial part of your beauty routine? What better technique could there be?
