summer skincare routine - zendaya

Warm summer weather is great—until you get sunburn, skin infections or even worse, Melasma. The humidity and hot temperatures can contribute to some major skin issues. Take care of your skin by following our skin care tips that will get you through the season, no matter what your skin type is.

1. Cleanse twice a day

To help keep your skin matte, yet moisturized, cleanse twice daily (first thing in the morning and before bed). Opt for lightweight and mild cleansers that will help to soothe irritated skin and gently remove dirt and impurities.

2. Try a Chemical exfoliant

Exfoliating daily is a part of the best skin care routine for the summer season. Chemical exfoliants like glycolic acid or lactic acid, are gentle enough to use on a daily basis, and can be used by people with sensitive skin too. When using chemical exfoliants, it’s important to use sunscreen anytime you step outside. Not sure what chemical exfoliants exactly are? Click here.

3. Opt for a Vitamin C infused product

Warm weather calls for a lightweight moisturizing formula that let your skin breathe. Because vitamin C is an antioxidant and is not heavy on the skin, it supports SPF by neutralizing free radicals that cause photo damage and keeps the skin well hydrated. After applying vitamin C cream/serum to the face, make sure you wear a broad spectrum (SPF 30+) sunscreen to protect the skin from harmful UV rays.

4. Always carry a facial mist

aloe vera - toner and mist

• Mario Badescu Facial Spray. Buy It: $7,

5. Last-call retinol

If you’ve been thinking about trying retinol all year, now’s the time to start using it without having to worry about the flaky skin. Remember, it can make you more sensitive to the sun, so save your retinol for the night. To check out our complete Retinol guide, click here.

6. Natural Remedy

To keep your skin fresh in summers, juice tomatoes (don’t add water) and freeze it using your regular ice-trays. To use, simply rub the ice cube all over your face, let the juice dry for about 4-5 minutes and then wash it off. You can also use aloe-vera gel in place of tomatoes for a more cooling effect.
