Honey has natural antibacterial properties, making it a great option for acne-prone skin. Additionally, the waxy part of honey helps to keep the skin soft, moisturized and glowing. Below, 6 honey face mask recipes you can make at home.

1. Turmeric Honey Mask

Turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory agent which helps calm redness, and reduce the appearance of scarring. In combination with honey, it forms a potent mix to deal with acne. 

Mix ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder with 1 tablespoon of honey, layer it evenly over your clean, dry skin, keep it on for about 10-15 minutes, then rinse it off.

2. Cinnamon Honey Mask

Cinnamon is known to possess anti-fungal, anti microbial and clotting properties. According to a 2013 study published in International Journal of Pharmaceutical Science Invention, Cinnamon can kill or suppress E.coli, Staphylococcus and Candida albican microbes.

Gather 2 tbsp of honey and mix it with 1 tsp of cinnamon until it forms a paste-like substance. Microwave the mixture for 30 seconds, make sure it’s not too hot, and then apply it on your face. Let it sit for 10 minutes and then rinse off.

One can use this mask on the whole face or as a spot treatment, just on the areas affected with acne and pimples. The options are truly up to the user’s skin concern.

3. Aloe Vera Honey Mask

This mask is best for people who have sensitive skin or commonly suffer from redness. Aloe vera has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which has led to its use in treating acne. 

To make this mask, mix equal parts of aloe vera and honey and apply it to your cleansed face. Leave it on for about 15-20 minutes and then wash it off.

4. Sea Salt Honey Mask

Sea salt is an incredibly powerful acne medication that works by cleansing the cells and killing bacteria while also promoting healthy pH levels in the skin. Along with honey, sea salt may help soothe your skin, and prevent inflammation and acne.

Take 2 tablespoons of sea salt and mix it with enough honey to make a paste. You may also add 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel to this. Apply this mixture to your cleansed face. Let it sit for 10 minutes. Rinse off and pat dry.

5. Tea Tree Honey Mask

Tea tree essential oil is known as a “miracle antiseptic.” It has strong antimicrobial and fungicidal properties. When combined with honey, it helps to efficiently eradicate the infections in acne-affected areas. 

Mix 2-3 drops of tea tree oil with 1 tbsp of honey. Apply it on the whole face or just the affected parts. Rinse with lukewarm water after 15  minutes.

Note: Tea tree oil should not be used during pregnancy due to its strong germicidal properties.

6. Avocado Yogurt Honey Mask

Avocados are packed full of vitamins and nutrients that help decrease inflammation that comes from eczema, acne and psoriasis. While yogurt has natural alpha hydroxy acid that helps exfoliate skin.

Make a smooth paste by mixing ¼ tablespoon avocado, 2 teaspoons honey, 1 teaspoon plain yogurt (the higher in fat, the more moisturizing) in a bowl. Spread a thick layer onto smooth skin. Let the mask sit for 10-15 minutes or longer. Rinse off.
